The Mexico 66 Mid Runner is a special shoe in Onitsuka Tiger's history as it was not originally found in any catalogs from the time of Tokyo 64. This mid-cut version was discovered in the archives of ASICS Research and Development in Kobe. The mid-cut feature was intended to support the ankle and was used as a training shoe for the long jump, high jump, triple jump and pole vaulting events.
